Students in Beginning Photography earn their fine art credits through both digital and darkroom work! We start the semester learning the basics of photographic composition by using small digital cameras to complete fun, one day assignments. For example, one day they have to make faceless portraits using a rule of composition. We move on to making a homemade camera, learning how to use a 35 mm film camera (the school provides all camera equipment and supplies), and then learning how to develop our own film and print in the darkroom. Finally, we learn how to use professional grade digital cameras.
